Movies at their Best
Motion pictures have been the trend since the 1890’s, precisely 1895, and since then, for over a century now, movies have continued to pop out of movie production houses like pop corn from a pop corn machine! Movies or motion pictures have a unique way of capturing the mind because you hardly use your imagination in conjuring up images like in the case of books or fiction novels where as you assimilate the written words, your imagination comes into play in your mind’s eye and you see the story come alive. Thanks to the inventions of the motion picture. You can actually watch a movie now from a book you have read. From Hollywood in America to Bollywood in India and Nollywood in Nigeria, and to mention Telemundo and Televista in Mexico, there is another film industry that’s growing and slowly gaining ground-the Korean film industry! I have just finished a couple of Korean dramas namely: Shopping King, While you were Sleeping, and Suspicious Partner. I must say I’m intrigued by the advancement and development of Korean movies. These dramas had wonderful storylines and plots, and were so full of suspense that they literally had me on the edge of my seat as I watched events unfold from one episode to the other. Another thing I have also noticed about these Korean dramas is that they are void of sordidness unlike most of the American or Mexican soaps. No nudity or sensual scenes , and even the romantic scenes are filled with such purity and innocence that they leave you wanting to do your love life a makeover and start all over again. But thanks to the saving grace of Christ! And another unique thing is that taekwando thing isn’t left out. Even the female characters fight.....very intriguing switch in a romantic drama. In fact, to cut a long story short, these dramas are full of lessons that the whole family can watch and learn from which are imbedded deep into the Korean culture, and values they still hold dear even in this dispensation steeped in dense immorality and a loss of a sound value system. The Korean movies still show us we can still be morally upright even in these dark times. I highly recommend these movies for family viewing.
