Marvel’s Stunts!
My son, Jason, has taught me to love action heroes and now that I have caught the bug, I am an avid fan of marvel’s characters. From Iron Man to Spider Man, Incredible Hulk, Black Panther, Ant Man; Dr. Strange to the X-Men, Wolverine which is one of my favorites, and Captain America who is my most favorite of the Avengers. Oops, I almost forgot about Thor, Vision, Black Widow and Wanda.
I’m sure you’re wondering how I got to know all these characters? Well, if you must know, I have sat down to watch almost every marvel movie that there is to watch because my son challenged me to. He still teases me about the fact that I haven’t still watched Thor Ragnarok and The X-Men Apocalypse, and to tell you the truth, I haven’t still finished watching the movie, Wolverine.
But I can boast of watching to the end Ant Man; mind you it was this movie that actually started the marvel trend. A friend of mine I hadn’t seen in ages called me up and decided to take my son and I to the movies one fine afternoon way back in 2015, and before we knew it we were silently munching pop corn, gulping down sodas (coke). and there we were glued to the movie screen watching Ant Man.
After that beautiful experience, I stumbled into Captain America: Civil War which is my all time favorite of the marvel clan. Then came Dr. Strange, which I never quite understood. After that there was Avengers Infinity War, where Thanos, the villain got a hold of the six infinity stones and threw everyone into oblivion! Then I watched Venom. This time around, my son almost wearied the life out of me, and by the time I knew it, we were in the cinema in front of the movie screen, munching popcorn and gulping sodas, entranced by the movie: Venom!
Ant Man and the Wasp was next to this; Black Panther, and then finally, Avengers End Game, where the depressed Avengers crew-Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor, Inccredible Hulk, Captain Marvel and the rest, all fought relentlessly to reverse time back to the past to enable them get back the Infinity stones from the villain-Thanos, by the use of the time machine and quantum physics! In the end after a very fierce and mortal battle, Tony Stark who is also Iron Man, finally got a hold of the six Infinity stones from Thanos and wore them.
He eventually brought the past to the present and reversed the evil Thanos had done. Nevertheless in the end, Iron Man also known as Tony Stark died. I was almost in tears as the end of the movie saw the Avengers conducting his funeral and his wife, played by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, and daughter in tears and reminiscing about their time together.
What saddened me the most was when I learnt that Iron Man was dead, and wouldn’t appear in any Avengers movie again. We don’t know that for sure. But as the writer and creator of the Marvel characters, Stan Lee, has passed on, perhaps the production of the Avengers End Game movie was to commemorate this event.
We are all eagerly waiting for the next marvel movie. Oops.. I forgot! I actually started watching Captain Marvel, but fell asleep at the middle of the movie. I hope to finish it one of these days soon. My son still accuses me of leaving him all by himself to watch it.
