On Valentine's day, my son and I watched a movie titled: Dr. Dolittle and just a few days ago, we watched another one this time an animated movie titled: Abominable about Yetis living on Mount Everest. Like I have said earlier on in my previous posts, movies of this nature, my son ensures that I watch them. And when I say 'ensures', he pressures me to the point that I have no choice but to comply with his wishes. And most times when I do, I'm always glad I did.

Dr. Dolittle,   played by Robert Downey Jnr., loves animals and has a special ability to hear and understand them. He is confined to his own animal zoo, he and his dear wife created, after her unexpected death on one of her expeditions. After a long while, he is summoned to the palace on account of the queen who is grievously ill and only Dr. Dolittle knows where to find the special plant that would heal the queen.

But before he goes on the expedition with his animal friends to find that special plant, he speaks to the octopus in the aquarium in the queen's chambers to report to him anything unusual when he gets back, after sensing that the queen's aide and doctor have been trying to kill her.

However, in the end, Dr. Dolittle finds that special plant amidst antagonistic and sabotaging plots from the queen's doctor and his father-in-law, who still blames him for the death of his daughter. He gets to the palace just in time to save the queen's life and expose the culprits trying to kill her.

I recommend this movie for family viewing especially now with the tension rising from the current crisis of the COVID-19 virus. Perhaps, a smile, a chuckle or even laughter will go a long way  to lightening our hearts again.
